Coming Home

Seated in a partially filled train carriage faced with a 30 minutes ride? My thoughts swung back to the inner dialogue I have held for the past week or so …. Time with all her mystery. In another 21 days, the year folds to a close. To say the year flew by doesn’t come off right. Neither does saying it was a slow year. If anything? 2018 was a year that had me thinking more than usual and yet, keep my thoughts at bay to get shit done. Talk about oxymoron yes?

When I think of 2018, the words that come to my mind’s eye – The year I’m coming home.

To discovering who I am, who I want to be and where I want to go.

A journey I came to realise unknowingly halted due to the noises of life. When my excuses got too big, the problems too heavy and my vision grew myopic. I fell to letting the currents of life sweep me left and right.

It just felt like it fell into place this year. Like it all clicked. And to say it feels good coming home will be downplaying how I feel.

Looking back? The past 344 days has been nothing short of sparkly. (Yes even the days I couldn’t seem to drag myself out of bed)

Just thinking of how I was this time last year has me marvelling at how I see life so differently, how I’ll probably do a 180 and choose a different choice given the same circumstances.

And in hindsight? Who I am growing and being will not be possible if not for the exchanges I have in life …

Thank you for those who shot me down. You taught me the importance of getting back up on my feet.

Thank you to those who called me out on my bull crap. You gave it to me before I even knew I needed it. And I apologise for being resistant to learning then!

To those who are journeying with me, you taught me the importance of enjoying the ride. And for the ones who have stood by me regardless of the good and bad? Words alone can’t describe the blend of emotions that stir when I think of you. So … Thank you.

Also; to the amazing strangers I now call clients (and friends)? You have no idea how our conversations have shaped, inspired and spurred me.

Thank you for sharing not just your successes but your failures. For sharing your experiences, your fears, your struggles.

In our exchanges, it got me reflecting not just on how I can better assist you in your life goals. (That’s a story for another day) It got me thinking …. how am I choosing to live?

I am filled with gratitude and happiness … It has been a productive and fulfilling year coming home.

And it is just gonna keep getting better and better. x
