It reared it’s ugly head with it’s beady eyes and scaly neck and I was helpless as I was locked in an eye to eye stare-down.
I couldn’t help but choke back on the ball of nerves that was eating into me from inside out.
“Appreciate everything in the now, accept what you can’t change” was what I kept chanting on repeat to myself. But the question that constantly came up was: “I could let it all go.”
I am frightened. And I am fearful how in time it could be my undoing. Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game. It was like I was staring from a distance well aware of how it felt all so familiar and yet, different.
It stared at me with challenge in it’s eyes daring me to back off. I squared my shoulders, hair tossed back and decided there and then: I acknowledge it has affected me right at that moment.
And that is that. It holds no more meaning than I choose to give it. Time is of such intrinsic value. It would be a waste to spend life brooding over the things I can never change. I choose to always in all ways do all things out of love even and especially when it hurts.
